Looking ahead to another band season

Parents and Students:

There is a STRONG possibility that we will be extended an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City, April 2010!!!! Groups are selected through competitive audition and I have received word we made it through the first round!

notesIF this happens it will be IMPERATIVE that all members of the Wind Symphony attend...less than 100 percent attendance will defeat our ability to have a stellar performance in this venue...VERY FEW people can say they sat on the stage of Carnegie Hall...to say an incredible performance is expected is an understatement at best. SO I'm letting everyone know NOW of the possibility so you can start saving your pennies and take advantage of all our IBA Fundraisers(IE The Las Vegas Motor Speedway) :) The trip will cost around $1,700 per person (students and chaperones alike)...fees will need to be paid in full at least one month prior to the trip.

THIS IS A HUGE AND AWESOME OPPORTUNITY!! For you seniors who are graduating YOU TOO can perform with us at this venue! In addition if you are a parent of one of our students who would like to perform with us in the event we are selected, please contact me :) Students who are not members of the Wind Symphony but would like to travel with the group may be allowed to do so on a case by case basis.

ALSO...and this is important...

This opportunity is also an opportunity to take our band program to the next level...we will be playing EXTREMELY difficult music in hopes of getting an outstanding recording to submit to the MidWest Clinic for December 2010...for those of you who are unfamiliar with "Midwest" it is THE pinnacle of performing opportunities for bands around the world. Four high school bands in the WORLD are selected each year...In the history of the state of Nevada, Green Valley High School is the only band to have ever been selected to Midwest...lets give it a shot :) :) :) for more information go to www.midwestclinic.com

IF we are selected it will be expected that students take private lessons...I cannot require this, however it is unlikely students will be able to master the music we will play without private instruction. If you need information on a private teacher I can help you, just let me know :)

This is AWESOME news...thanks to everyone for your hard work...we keep getting better and its because of EVERYONE!

Sincerely,
Justin Klarer, Director of Bands
